PRADA TAKES ON BABY PARAPHERNALIA

Prada gets it. They are completely on board with the fact that, for the last three or four seasons, babies have been the ultimate fashion accessory for a whole lot of starlets. Angelina Jolie is, evidently, trying to have a different baby to carry around every day of the week (to match her shoes, presumably). The rumor mill is saying that Eva Longoria – who, conversely, has enough Prada handbags to easily carry a new one every day for about a month – is with child. So perhaps her next bag will be Prada’s Nylon Diaper Bag. The bag is, of course, made out of nylon, though the top handles are made of tonal leather. The shoulder strap is both adjustable and removable, it closes with a zipper, and the pockets on the front and the side have zippers as well.
I actually think this bag is awesome. I think that this could be a new evolution of Prada handbags. They recognize that a mother is not just a mother – she’s a woman, too. And just because new moms are surrounded by diapers, stuffed animals, bottles, and baby wipes, that does not mean that those objects define who she is. New moms want to be styles too, you know? To that end, this bag is brilliant. It gives women a chance to dump the pastel colors, the huge, cumbersome diaper bags decorated with duckies and teddy bears. Furthermore, it is actually functional – yet mom could still carry it around like a purse. So go Prada; this one’s a winner.
